Members code of conduct

Our Commitment:

To create a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment that reflects the values of the RSL and supports veterans,
families, and the community. This Code of Conduct sets the standard for behaviour expected of all members of the
RSL. It reflects the values of respect, integrity, service and camaraderie that underpin the RSL’s mission to support
veterans, their families, and the broader community.

 

What we ask of you:

  • Treat everyone with respect – Be courteous to members, staff, volunteers, and guests
  • Act with honesty and integrity – Be transparent, fair, and accountable
  • Support a safe and welcoming space – Follow safety rules and report concerns
  • Drink responsibly – Follow RSA laws and venue guidelines
  • Supervise your guests and children – Ensure they behave respectfully and safely
  • Use social media responsibly – Represent the Sub-Branch positively, protect privacy, avoid sharing false or
    harmful content, and clearly separate personal views from official communications
  • Comply with all applicable laws and RSL policies – This includes adhering to the RSL Victoria By-Laws, the
    Liquor Control Reform Act 1998, the Gambling Regulation Act 2003, and any other relevant legislation or DCRSL
    specific policies
  • Uphold the reputation, traditions and values – RSL Values: Respect, Integrity, Mateship and Service

 

What undermines Our Community:

  • Harassment, bullying, or discrimination – In any form, including online
  • Refrain from aggressive, offensive, or disruptive behaviour – Whether verbal, physical, or unsafe
  • Misuse of property or facilities – Including damage or unauthorised use
  • Members must not attend the club while intoxicated or under the influence of illicit substances, and are
    expected to consume alcohol responsibly
  • Using illegal drugs or bringing prohibited substances onto club premises
  • Posting harmful or misleading content online – Especially if it misrepresents the Sub-Branch
  • Claiming to speak on behalf of DCRSL without authorisation – Only designated representatives may do so.
  • Spreading false, misleading, or malicious information about the club or its members
  • Ignoring staff directions – Cooperation ensures everyone’s safety and enjoyment

 

Breaches May Result In:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Suspension or loss of privileges
  • Termination of membership
  • Referral to RSL Victoria or Police (for serious matters)

We expect Members to cooperate with investigations into complaints or misconduct and accept disciplinary actions
if found in breach of this code.

 

To report a concern:

Submit a written report to the President or Secretary (members@dandenongrsl.com.au). All matters are handled
confidentially and fairly.
